Strong hardware comes first
The camera arrangement is one of the first signs that the P80 Ultra is more than a display showcase. It uses a class-leading 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens alongside a 50MP main camera with a large 1/1.56-inch sensor. To put that in context, direct rivals such as the Samsung A57 and the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus do not include a dedicated telephoto shooter. Performance matches the rest of the feature set. Inside the P80 Ultra is the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Elite chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. TCL also includes up to 16GB of RAM Expansion, which borrows storage space to increase multitasking headroom. With a 5,800mAh battery and 45W Super Fast Charging, the P80 Ultra is equipped to handle long days. Software support is also generous: the handset is promised up to four operating system upgrades and up to seven years of security updates. Google Gemini, Circle to Search, AI Smart Translator, and other smart tools come preloaded, ensuring the software experience is as robust as the hardware underneath.
The value message extends beyond the Ultra. When compared with same-segment rivals, the P80 Pro has the same best-in-segment AMOLED Sunlight Display as the Ultra, and its 5,800mAh battery is larger than the 5,000mAh cell in the Samsung A37. Meanwhile, the standard P80 lines up favorably against the Samsung A27. In that comparison, the P80 brings a 1.5K display and 45W charging, while the A27 offers FHD resolution and 25W charging. The P80 also weighs in 22g lighter. TCL has clearly worked to create a cohesive lineup where even the more accessible models offer meaningful upgrades over their rivals.
NXTPAPER gives the P80 Ultra and Pro a real edge
Traditional hardware specifications are only part of the P80 Ultra story. NXTPAPER is the technology that sets it apart, and it is available on both the P80 Ultra and P80 Pro. NXTPAPER is not a simple software filter. It is a hardware-integrated display solution that TCL has refined over five generations. In the P80 Series, it encompasses a Natural Soft-light System, a Nano Crystal Shield Glass layer, and 24-hour Proactive Eye Comfort Technology.
The benefits are perceptible during real-world usage. Nano-etched anti-glare technology is designed to reduce reflections in bright environments, so content remains visible in ways that regular glass displays often cannot manage. Hardware-level low-blue-light and flicker-free dimming are included as well, making low-light reading and extended viewing sessions easier on the eyes. The system also uses Nature-inspired Light Conversion to achieve up to 95 percent circular polarization. That measure helps preserve display clarity outdoors, even when wearing polarized sunglasses.

The P80 Ultra reaches a notable first by combining NXTPAPER with an AMOLED panel. Previous iterations of NXTPAPER were mostly associated with LCD technology, and integrating the eye-care features with the deeper blacks and vibrant colors of AMOLED is an engineering step. Users get the visual benefits of OLED technology while still getting TCL's specialized anti-glare and low-blue-light treatments.

The P80 Series already competes strongly on camera hardware, display specification, performance, battery stamina, and software support.
